Abstract:   (19 Views)
This paper proposes a simple and fast-processing modulation strategy for three-level four-leg neutral-point-clamped (NPC) inverter. Despite the conventional modulation methods which have considerable disadvantages such as complicated digital logic, the proposed strategy can be implemented with a simple logic and can be processed very quickly. This superiority is due to this fact that the presented technique can decouple the four-leg NPC inverter into 3 three-level buck converters in each defined operating section. Moreover, the switching loss is reduced substantially and the dc-link capacitors’ voltages balance is also achieved without any feedback control. Analysis and simulations are carried out on a three-level four-leg NPC inverter. Experimental verifications also validate the simulation results. The results demonstrate that the proposed strategy is capable of delivering power to all sorts of loads, linear/nonlinear and balanced/unbalanced.
