Abstract:   (28 Views)
One of the prominent applications of sparse array antennas is the estimation of signal arrival angles, which is relevant in various domains such as radar, wireless telecommunications, sonar, and others. The category of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) represents a novel framework for the implementation of sparse array antennas, as discussed in recent literature. In UAV-based sparse array systems, each antenna element can be repositioned freely at any given moment. This paper aims to design the flight path (placement) of the UAVs by optimizing the velocity of each UAV through the use of a genetic algorithm, thereby enhancing the accuracy of signal arrival angle estimation. The results obtained from simulations indicate that the optimal design of the UAV flight paths leads to a reduction in the Cramér-Rao lower bound for signal arrival angle estimation, signifying that the accuracy of the signal arrival angle estimation is improved through the optimization of the UAVs' trajectories
