Abstract:   (783 Views)
The use of vacuum circuit breaker in electrical networks, especially industrial ones, is increasing due to its significant advantages such as small dimensions, no need for major repairs, and the possibility of a large number of disconnections and connections. One of the vaccume breaker applications is the use on the HV side of arc furnace transformers in steel companies. In addition to the considerable benefits, vacuum breaker result in some transients, which can damage the transformer winding, tap changer, and even phase-to-ground arresters. Based on the mentioned theory and the practical experience of damaging transformers in one of the country's steel companies, it is necessary to design a transient filter to dampen out and depreciate the transients. The aim of this article is to propose a systematic analytical method for the design of the transient filter. In order to evaluate the efficiency, it is necessary to accurately model the vacuum breaker to study the high frequency phenomena. By implementing a detailed model, the functional efficiency of the transient filter is verified.
